Johor civil servants told to adopt Dr M’s work ethic

M Update 29/1/2019 – Johor civil servants should take Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad’s work commitment as an example, says Menteri Besar Datuk Osman Sapian.

“Dr Mahathir recently said the only award that he preferred is KSM, which he said stood for ‘Kerja Sampai Mati’ (Work Until Die). Even though it was a joke, it has a deeper meaning coming from our 93-year-old prime minister.

“Choosing a career as a civil servant means we choose to extend our service to the rakyat and the state.”I hope we can all get the award KSM, which I have changed to mean ‘Kerja Seperti Mahathir’ (Work Like Mahathir),” he added.

Osman said this in his speech during the Mentri Besar’s mandate to state civil servants held at EduCity Sports Complex here on Monday (Jan 28).

He added that in the ever-changing world, the work routine from 8am and 5pm was seen as not suitable for the current government’s aspirations. “Civil servants must be productive and dynamic in carrying out their trust and responsibilities but if they have to work outside office hours, they must make sure that it meets their deadlines.

“All of you (civil servants) must give full commitment to the new state government in helping us to carry out tasks that will benefit the rakyat,” he said. – The Star Online
