M Update, 17/1/2019 – The Prime Minister of Malaysia, Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad will be undertaking a Working Visit to the United Kingdom (UK) from 17 to 20 January 2019. The visit to the UK will be the second visit by the Prime Minister since his resumption of the Prime Minister’s position on 10 May 2018.
The Prime Minister will be accompanied by spouse, Tun Dr. Siti Hasmah Mohd Ali, the Deputy Foreign Minister, Dato’ Haji Marzuki Haji Yahya as well as senior officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The Prime Minister is scheduled to deliver a speech at Oxford’s Frewin Court on 18 January 2019 and meet the Secretary General of the Commonwealth, Patricia Scotland on the same day. Among the issues to be discussed during their meeting are intra-Commonwealth trade and investment, good governance and preventing and countering extremism.
The Prime Minister’s visit aim to continue the long standing good relations that have been established between Malaysia and the UK. The visit is also expected to strengthen the bond of friendship and cooperation between the two countries.
