M Update, 1/2/2019 – Seventeen people were injured in a collision between a tour bus and a trailer lorry at Km305 of the North-South Expressway (NSE) at about 6pm yesterday.
The bus, which was carrying 29 passengers, was travelling from the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) and was headed northbound on the NSE when it rear-ended the trailer lorry about eight kilometres from the Gopeng toll exit. Bernama reported that four of the injured were pinned to their seats and had to be extricated by rescuers. The bus driver was among the injured.
Tapah Fire and Rescue Station chief Ahmad Noor Syamsi Zainoldin said they received an emergency call at 6.13pm and dispatched a fire engine with 16 firefighters and an Emergency Medical Response Service (EMRS) unit to the scene.
He said that some of the injured passengers had already freed themselves from the damaged vehicle when they arrived on site. “The four victims (who were pinned to their seats) comprised three women and a man aged between 30 and 50 years.
After being extricated, they were sent to the Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital for further treatment,” Ahmad Noor added.
The trailer lorry driver and his assistant were not injured in the accident. – NST Online
